Intuit QuickBooks & Active Club Management Present at the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium

CREDIT CARD SECURITY: Security standards for accepting Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover and other credit cards is one topic that requires serious attention. The standards for security are increasing and the responsibilities for winery owners and the software providers are increasing. These requirements apply to ALL venders selling or licensing the software solutions, businesses using the solutions which process cards e.g. cash register systems aka Point of Sale (POS), online shopping cart solutions, club systems, etc.

Many companies offer PCI compliance or PCI - DSS security but this will no longer be enough as of July 1 2010. Any company selling or licensing software that processes credit cards is required to have the PCI - PADSS. This certification requires on-sight audits, detailed documentation and an extensive review process. After completing the security reports and documentation every vender must pass the PCI - PADSS security audits. The cost of the audit start at $ 12,500.00 and is best paid by your software vender and not the individual retailer.

Most retailers using the PCI-PADSS certified solutions will be required to have their own self-assessment and quarterly security scans.
