Direct to Consumer Shipments Take a Carbon Neutral Step in the "Green" Direction
January 23, 2012 - Livermore, CA: Active Club Management supports
the Carbon Neutral Challenge by offering the options of UPS Carbon Neutral shipments.
Wineries depend on clean air, water and earth to produce a quality harvest. Much of
the focus to reduce CO2 emissions focuses on vineyard and nursery operations, however,
positive reductions can be made in other parts of a winery's operation. With a small
change, and a single click of a button, wineries can increase their green footprint by
shipping their Direct to Consumer shipments via UPS Carbon Neutral and can demonstrate
their commitment to sustainability.
Oregon is leading the effort in the wine industry and is well underway with their Carbon
Neutral Challenge (CNC). Left Coast Cellars is part of Oregon's CNC and was one of the
first wineries to expand their carbon footprint reduction efforts to their tasting room
and club shipments by asking Active Club Management to support the Carbon Neutral Shipping
(CNS) program from UPS. "This is a major part of our sustainable practices" said Ivy Hover,
Left Coast Cellars Marketing Director.
Wineries wanting to use the UPS Carbon Neutral Shipping program can do so without any changes to their UPS account.
If they are using Active Club Management the UPS CNS can be added with a click of a button. When selected,
Active Club Management will process the individual or batch sales as Carbon Neutral and will have the actual
shipping rates and carbon neutral fees added to each shipment. Wineries won't have to estimate the Carbon
Neutral rates or shipping rates as it Active Club Management will pull the rates and fees in real-time for
each respective package.
Wineries not using Active Club Management can leverage the CN program by individually shipping their packages via UPS.com.
As a specialist in providing wine club solutions and a certified partner with UPS, Active Club Management is
the first solution to support the Carbon Neutral efforts. For clients using Active Club Management using the
Carbon Neutral option is as simple as a single click of a button. This "green" option has been added to the
existing UPS, FedEx and GSO shipping options and we are extremely excited to offer this to our customers said
Theresa Dorr, President and CEO of Active Club Management. This feature will contribute to the success of the
CNC and as packages are sent across the US hopefully other wineries and people will get involved.
California companies are also leveraging the CO2 reductions. Our company, as well are our customers have been
contributing to the "green" efforts for years. This is one more step in the right direction said Joel Helman,
of Pairing Wine and Cheese. We are excited to be able to do our part in reducing CO2 emissions.
The benefits can add up to be significant. The cost is minimal.
The Carbon Neutral program works to reduce UPS CO2 emissions during deliveries and
invests in Carbon Neutral projects. If you choose UPS Carbon Neutral Shipping an additional
$ .05 per ground package. Wineries can ship Carbon Neutral via the UPS website or through
